Terms of Service
Version: 1.0 Effective date: 14.07.2026 Last updated: 14.07.2026
1. General provisions
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the website available at https://muddlo.com, including its user accounts, recipe database, ingredient search engine, My Bar, favourites, shopping lists, ratings, comments, public API and other features made available through the website.
The website is operated by:
Operator: Muddlo Contact email: contact@muddlo.com
In these Terms:
- Muddlo or the Service means the website and services available at muddlo.com;
- Operator means the entity identified above;
- User means any person accessing or using the Service;
- Registered User means a User who has created an account;
- Guest means a User who uses the Service without logging in;
- User Content means recipes, descriptions, instructions, photographs, ratings, comments, names and other materials submitted by Users;
- Shared List means a shopping list made accessible through a public sharing link;
- API means the public application programming interface made available by Muddlo.
By using the Service, creating an account or submitting User Content, the User agrees to these Terms and acknowledges the Privacy Policy.
2. Nature of the Service
Muddlo is an informational and community-based recipe service. It allows Users to browse, search for, save, rate, comment on and submit cocktail and mocktail recipes and to manage ingredients and shopping lists.
Muddlo is not an online alcohol store, alcohol delivery service, bartender service, catering service or medical or dietary advisory service. The Operator does not sell, supply or deliver alcoholic beverages through the Service.
Information available through Muddlo is provided for general informational and entertainment purposes. Users remain responsible for complying with the laws applicable in their country, region and place of residence.
3. Age requirement
The Service is intended exclusively for persons who are at least 18 years old and who may legally access alcohol-related content under the laws applicable to them.
By accessing the Service, the User declares that:
- they are at least 18 years old;
- accessing alcohol-related content is lawful in their location;
- they will not use the Service to encourage alcohol consumption by minors; and
- they will use alcohol-related information responsibly.
The age confirmation displayed by Muddlo is based solely on the User’s declaration. It is not an identity check or formal age-verification procedure.
The Operator may restrict access to the Service where it reasonably believes that a User does not meet the age requirement.
4. Technical requirements
To use the Service, the User needs:
- a device connected to the internet;
- a current web browser supporting modern web standards;
- JavaScript enabled;
- support for cookies and localStorage;
- an active email address when creating an account or recovering a password.
Disabling essential cookies, JavaScript or localStorage may prevent some features from working correctly, including logging in, saving an age declaration, maintaining a session, using individual shopping lists or submitting forms securely.
The User is responsible for the security, configuration and compatibility of their device, browser and internet connection.
5. User accounts
Some features require registration.
When creating and using an account, the User must:
- provide accurate and current information;
- provide an email address they are authorised to use;
- keep their login credentials confidential;
- use a sufficiently secure password;
- promptly notify the Operator of suspected unauthorised access;
- refrain from sharing or transferring the account to another person; and
- keep the account information reasonably up to date.
The User is responsible for activity performed through their account unless the activity results from circumstances for which the Operator is legally responsible.
The Operator will never request the User’s password by email.
The User may use the “remember me” function where available. Users should not enable this function on shared or publicly accessible devices.
Password recovery links and authentication tokens are temporary and must not be disclosed to other persons.
6. My Bar, favourites and ingredient search
Registered Users may save ingredients in the My Bar feature. This allows Muddlo to display recipes that can be prepared using the ingredients selected by the User.
Registered Users may also add and remove recipes from their favourites.
The ingredient search engine may display:
- recipes that can be prepared using all selected ingredients;
- recipes requiring one or more additional ingredients;
- suggested or related recipes;
- estimated numbers of matching recipes.
Search results depend on the recipe and ingredient data available in the Service. The Operator does not guarantee that every possible recipe or ingredient combination will be included.
Users are responsible for verifying whether ingredients are still available, safe to use and suitable for the intended recipe.
7. Shopping lists
Users may create shopping lists containing, among other things:
- ingredients;
- quantities;
- measurement units;
- purchased or unpurchased status;
- associated recipes;
- the intended number of drinks.
Quantities generated from recipes are estimates. Calculations may involve rounding, conversion between units, serving-size assumptions and differences between ingredient definitions.
Before purchasing or preparing ingredients, the User should independently verify all quantities.
The Operator is not responsible for purchases made solely on the basis of an automatically calculated shopping list, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
8. Sharing shopping lists
A shopping list may be shared using a public link.
Unless otherwise indicated, a sharing link:
- does not expire automatically;
- may be opened by any person who obtains it;
- may be forwarded, copied or published by its recipient;
- may display the contents of the list and the name of its owner.
The owner of the list is responsible for deciding who receives the link and for avoiding the inclusion of confidential or sensitive information in the list or owner name.
A shared link should not be treated as private or confidential.
Where Muddlo provides an option to revoke, regenerate or disable a sharing link, the owner may use that option. Where such an option is unavailable, the owner may delete the list or contact contact@muddlo.com and request that the sharing link be invalidated.
The Operator cannot prevent access that occurred before a link was revoked or prevent third parties from retaining screenshots, copies or information previously obtained from the list.
9. Collaborative and individual shopping lists
Muddlo may offer two shopping-list modes.
9.1 Collaborative list
In collaborative mode, persons who have the sharing link may:
- view the current purchased status of products;
- see changes made by other persons;
- change the purchased status of products.
The owner accepts that all persons with the link may interact with the list. The Operator does not verify the identity of persons using the link and cannot guarantee that a change was made by a particular individual.
9.2 Individual list
In individual mode, purchased statuses are stored separately for each browser or device using a browser identifier.
A person opening the list from another browser, after deleting cookies or after the browser identifier expires may receive a separate list state.
The Operator does not guarantee that individual list statuses will remain available after browser data has been removed or reset.
10. Submitting recipes
Registered Users may submit recipes containing, among other things:
- a recipe title;
- an HTML-formatted description;
- preparation instructions;
- ingredients and quantities;
- categories and tags;
- an uploaded photograph.
The User must submit only content that they created or that they are otherwise legally authorised to use and license.
By submitting User Content, the User represents and warrants that:
- the content does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, database or other rights;
- any identifiable person shown in an uploaded photograph has consented to its publication where consent is legally required;
- the content is not misleading, unlawful or dangerous;
- the recipe does not intentionally omit material safety information;
- the User has the rights necessary to grant the licence described in these Terms.
Users should remove location data and other metadata from photographs before uploading them. Uploaded photographs may contain EXIF metadata, including information about the device, date or location where the photograph was created. Muddlo does not currently guarantee that all EXIF metadata will be removed.
11. Licence granted to Muddlo
The User retains ownership of the rights they hold in their User Content.
By submitting User Content, the User grants the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- store and make technical copies of the content;
- reproduce and display the content through Muddlo;
- format, resize, compress and technically adapt the content;
- categorise, tag and organise the content;
- moderate, review and correct formatting or obvious language errors;
- publish the content on Muddlo;
- make public recipe content available through the API;
- distribute the content through technical service providers necessary to operate Muddlo;
- use reasonable excerpts or thumbnails to present and promote the relevant recipe or the Service.
The licence lasts for as long as the User Content remains available through the Service and for a reasonable period afterwards where copies remain in backups, caches, documentation or records required for legal claims.
Removing User Content does not affect uses that lawfully occurred before removal or copies independently retained by API users or other third parties.
The licence does not transfer ownership of the User Content to the Operator.
12. Prohibited content
Users must not submit or publish content that:
- is unlawful;
- promotes violence, self-harm or dangerous misuse of alcohol;
- encourages alcohol consumption by minors;
- encourages driving or operating machinery after consuming alcohol;
- is threatening, harassing, hateful, discriminatory or grossly offensive;
- contains pornography or sexually exploitative material;
- infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy or other third-party rights;
- reveals another person’s confidential or personal information without a valid legal basis;
- contains malware, malicious code or deceptive links;
- impersonates another person or organisation;
- constitutes spam, unauthorised advertising or fraudulent content;
- intentionally provides unsafe or materially false recipe information;
- attempts to manipulate ratings, comments, views or search statistics.
The User must not submit sensitive personal data, passwords, payment details, medical records or identification documents through recipe descriptions, comments, shopping lists or other public fields.
13. Ratings and comments
Users may be able to rate and comment on recipes as Registered Users or Guests.
A comment may display:
- the Registered User’s public account name; or
- the name entered by a Guest.
Users must not use a name that impersonates another person, infringes third-party rights or misleads other Users.
Comments may require administrator approval before publication. An accepted comment becomes publicly visible and may be indexed by search engines.
Ratings and comments must reflect a genuine opinion or experience. Artificial ratings, coordinated manipulation, duplicate submissions and automated voting are prohibited.
14. Moderation
Recipes, photographs, ratings and comments may be reviewed manually or with technical tools.
The Operator may, where reasonably justified:
- approve or reject submitted content;
- delay publication while content is being reviewed;
- correct formatting, spelling, categories, tags or technical errors;
- add safety notices;
- limit the visibility of content;
- remove links or personal information;
- reject, hide or delete content;
- suspend the ability to submit further content;
- block or terminate an account.
Possible reasons include a violation of these Terms, suspected illegality, infringement of third-party rights, security risks, poor content quality, duplication, misleading information or incompatibility with the subject of the Service.
Where appropriate, the Operator may provide the User with a reason for a moderation decision. The User may challenge a decision by contacting contact@muddlo.com and identifying the affected content and explaining why the decision should be reconsidered.
Moderation does not constitute an endorsement or verification of User Content. The Operator is not required to monitor every item before publication unless applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Reporting unlawful or infringing content
A person who believes that content available through Muddlo is unlawful or infringes their rights may send a report to contact@muddlo.com.
The report should include:
- the reporter’s name and contact details;
- the exact URL or other information identifying the content;
- an explanation of why the content is allegedly unlawful or infringing;
- information supporting the report;
- a statement that the report is submitted in good faith.
The Operator may request additional information before taking action.
Knowingly submitting false, abusive or misleading reports is prohibited.
16. Intellectual property rights
The Muddlo name, visual design, source code, software, interface, original photographs, graphics, logos, texts and the protectable selection or arrangement of the database may be protected by copyright, database rights, trademark rights or other applicable laws.
Except where expressly permitted, Users may not:
- copy or republish substantial parts of the Service;
- reproduce the design or software;
- extract or reutilise substantial parts of the database;
- remove copyright or attribution notices;
- use Muddlo branding in a misleading manner;
- claim ownership of content belonging to the Operator or another User.
Individual recipe ideas, ingredient facts or methods may not always qualify for copyright protection. However, original descriptions, photographs, creative presentation and the structure of the database may be protected.
Third-party trademarks and product names remain the property of their respective owners.
17. Responsible alcohol consumption
Muddlo promotes responsible and lawful alcohol consumption.
Users must not use the Service to:
- encourage minors to obtain or consume alcohol;
- promote excessive, forced or hazardous drinking;
- organise drinking challenges that create a health or safety risk;
- encourage driving, cycling or operating machinery after consuming alcohol;
- present alcohol as a solution to personal, emotional, medical or social problems.
Alcohol affects individuals differently. Users should consider their age, body weight, health, medication, pregnancy, local laws and other personal circumstances.
A person who intends to drive or operate machinery should not consume alcohol.
18. Allergens, dietary information and health
Recipes may contain allergens or ingredients unsuitable for certain diets or health conditions.
Muddlo does not guarantee that:
- allergen information is complete;
- an ingredient is suitable for a particular allergy or intolerance;
- a recipe is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, sugar-free or compatible with another diet;
- substitute products have the same composition;
- information submitted by Users is accurate;
- preparation instructions eliminate food-safety risks.
Users must check product labels and obtain appropriate professional advice where necessary.
Information provided through the Service is not medical, nutritional or therapeutic advice.
The Operator is not responsible for allergic reactions, adverse interactions, intoxication, food poisoning or other consequences caused by ingredients or preparation methods, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
19. Public API
Muddlo may provide an API containing public ingredient and recipe data.
Access to the API is granted on a limited, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable basis, subject to these Terms and any API documentation or additional limits published by the Operator.
API users must not:
- exceed published request limits;
- bypass technical restrictions;
- overload or disrupt the Service;
- scrape the website as a substitute for authorised API access;
- use multiple identifiers to avoid rate limits;
- attempt to access non-public fields or endpoints;
- collect account information or internal identifiers;
- use data in an unlawful, misleading or harmful manner;
- reproduce a substantial part of the database without permission;
- represent that an application is endorsed by Muddlo without written consent.
The Operator may change API fields, limits, endpoints and availability at any time. The API is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability, backwards compatibility or completeness.
Unless separate permission is granted, API access does not transfer ownership of Muddlo’s database, content or branding.
20. Security and prohibited conduct
Users must not:
- circumvent authentication, rate limits or security controls;
- access another person’s account or list without authorisation;
- probe, scan or test vulnerabilities without prior written permission;

- reverse engineer the Service except where permitted by mandatory law;
- interfere with logs, analytics or moderation systems;
- use Muddlo for unlawful commercial activity.
Security vulnerabilities should be reported responsibly to contact@muddlo.com and must not be publicly disclosed before the Operator has had a reasonable opportunity to investigate and address them.
21. Suspension and termination
The Operator may suspend, restrict or terminate an account or access to specific features where:
- these Terms have been violated;
- the account creates a security risk;
- unlawful activity is suspected;
- the User repeatedly submits prohibited content;
- the User manipulates ratings or statistics;
- the Operator is required to do so by law or a competent authority;
- continued provision of the account is technically or operationally unreasonable.
Where appropriate, the Operator will consider the nature, frequency and consequences of the violation before taking action.
A User may stop using the Service at any time.
A request to delete an account may be submitted to contact@muddlo.com from the email address assigned to the account. The Operator may request reasonable information necessary to verify the requester’s identity.
Deleting an account may not automatically delete public User Content. Depending on the request, applicable rights and legal grounds, the Operator may delete the content, anonymise the author or retain limited information necessary for legal claims, security or compliance.
22. Availability and changes to the Service
The Operator seeks to keep Muddlo available but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- maintenance;
- updates;
- security incidents;
- hosting or network failures;
- third-party service failures;
- events outside the Operator’s reasonable control.
The Operator may add, modify, suspend or discontinue features. Where a change materially affects Registered Users, the Operator will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
The Operator may discontinue the Service. Where reasonably possible, Registered Users will be informed in advance.
23. Liability

Email: contact@muddlo.com
A complaint should include:
- the complainant’s name or account email;
- a description of the issue;
- the relevant URL, recipe, list or feature;
- the expected resolution.
The Operator will respond without undue delay and aims to respond within 14 calendar days after receiving a sufficiently detailed complaint.
